What a simple but wonderful thought, right! At the beginning of each year we make goals and resolutions to be better people. Sometimes they stick and sometimes they don't. Either way, each day is a new chance to start over. Every day you have the power to improve yourself. I'll tell you a secret (another favorite quote of mine). "Small wins lead to big successes." Even if you don't know it, you have small wins every day.
A great first step to recognizing those small changes is by keeping track of the small successes. For instance, maybe one of your goals is to lose weight. Well, today you think you had a bad day because you went to McDonald's. But let's say you got a small fry (or even a medium) instead of your normal large fry. That's a small win! Maybe you have an impulse shopping problem. Today you went to Walmart and overspent a little. However, you did put back that shirt that you wanted. Again another small win!
See, if you think about it, you’re probably having small wins all over the place.
I want to encourage you to take some time during the day or at night before you go to bed and write down 1-3 small wins you had that day. I bet by the end of the week you will be amazed at how many small wins you had. You are already a different person than you were a month ago.
I don't know about you but I've made a lot of steps forward on the journey to who I want to be. (I've made a couple of steps back too.) But the point is, each day I design my life to be Happy. I've worked too hard and sacrificed too many hours to get here! I'm not working this hard to be the same person I was last year! (And I know you aren't either.)
I also encourage you to write the quote down on a piece of paper or print it out. However, at the end attribute it to yourself. Maybe hang it up someplace where you will see it every day. This way it will be a reminder to you that are moving forward for a reason! It can help lead you one step closer on the path to living your life, "Happy by Design!"
