In Darkness There Is Light

There comes a time in everyone’s life.

When darkness reigns and we can’t see the light.

This is the time that can lead us astray.

Don’t let this darkness take you away.

Away from the light that brightens the dark.

You never need worry that you don’t have the spark.

The spark that ignites the light from above.

This light will not leave you and provides everlasting love.

Christ is the light that always is there.

Just know when you need Him He will ALWAYS be there.

You are His child whom He loves very much.

Just ask and He’ll give and you’ll feel His sweet touch.

The touch of His hand on your very heart.

So never give up…

Do your best

To make a fresh start…

I wrote this poem on September 11, 2001 after watching the Twin Towers fall, from my living room sofa.  My heart ached and my chest was heavy for the lost, and for the families who would soon learn the tragic fate of their loved ones.

I’ve lost all too many precious people in my life, from a miscarriage, several child relatives, and countless other family members of many ages.

Cancer and diabetes have reared their ugly face all too often in our family, myself included with skin cancer.  These and many diseases can evoke a sense of doom, and darkness can hover over us if we’re not careful in managing our mindset (thoughts, feelings, and emotions).  Sometimes it can seem overwhelming, and dark.

So whether we lose someone unexpectedly or with a death sentence from disease, and although the pain can be unbearable, there is hope for a brighter tomorrow, and we don’t have to go it alone.

There is ALWAYS Hope!  The hope is found in the Light of the World.

These pains and realizations are what inspired me to write this poem.  I hope that in some small way, if you’re living in darkness, that it was a light of hope for you, my friend.

Light surrounds us if we look for it.  Will you?
